* Initial Consultation - 1.5 hrs - 2 hrs

When you first make contact with us, we will discuss your requirements and concerns briefly to check we are able to provide the support you need.  If we can help, a more in depth consultation will be arranged.  This provides us with the opportunity to get to know each other a little and to go into greater depth regarding your concerns for your child and/or your family, what you may have already tried in the past, how things are affecting you as a family and so on.  There will be plenty of opportunity for you to ask any questions and for us to make an initial assessment together on which service feels right for you based on your specific needs.

* Child Assessment - 45 mins

Through a process of playful activities and observations, your therapist will conduct an assessment of your child.  This helps us begin to build a trusting, therapeutic relationship with your child, as well as, see their world from their point of view.  Your child's needs will be continually assessed and respected as their therapeutic sessions progress.

* Individual Play & Creative Arts Therapy Sessions - 45 mins

Individual, child-lead play therapy sessions, conducted one-to-one between your child and their therapist, are held on a weekly basis (usually term-time only).  These sessions are confidential, however, we believe that parents and carers are, more often than not, a fundamental part of a child's therapeutic journey and, as such, you will be kept updated regarding your child's progress.  Support is also provided for issues presenting outside of your child's therapeutic sessions.  Children usually require a minimum of 12-15 sessions, some will require more.  Your therapist will be able to give you an idea of the number of sessions your child needs.  Your therapist will not suggest more sessions than necessary.

* Family Play Sessions - 1 hr

Bespoke sessions for families as a whole, or family dyads, to help reduce conflict and increase communication, harmony and understanding between parents, children and siblings.  As you and your family gain insight from these sessions, further support can be provided to help you manage issues presenting outside your therapeutic sessions.

* Filial Therapy Sessions - 1 hr

Filial Therapy is where parents/carers learn particular techniques and strategies to strengthen & build on their relationship with their children, creating healthy attachments, increasing trust, supporting with limit-setting and boundaries and preventing family disruption.  Many other behavioural difficulties you may be experiencing will also be addressed under the guidance of your therapist.  You will work closely with your therapist on a weekly basis, dedicating the time together towards learning specific skills initially, then, once you feel comfortable and ready, you will put your new skills to use during special home-play sessions with your children giving you the chance to reconnect, focus on each other, discover the world through their eyes and share moments of wonder and joy together.  Filial therapy is a powerful life skill which, once learnt, can be applied to all sorts of situations involving children.  The programme generally requires between 15-20 sessions.

School Consultations

Schools are free to access the services we provide to children on an individual basis, as well as, the work we do with families (see services listed above).  We are also happy to discuss your needs and tailor a package to meet your goals.

* Workshops

Would you like to up-skill your school staff on the signs of developmental trauma and how to manage children who are struggling in class?  We can provide workshops that will explain a little bit more about why children behave the way they do and how small changes in our behaviours, as the adults in their lives, can make a big difference and, ultimately, increase their ability to learn.

The importance of non-judgmental therapy

Being able to talk to someone who is specially trained not to judge or interpret what you (parent/carer/school staff) or your child is saying, not only helps you (and your child) feel more at ease and accepted, but it also does something incredible for our brains!  Total acceptance of someone leads to trust which in turn 'unlocks' the mind thus opening the way to work out the best solutions!
